Cammeo con Zeus e Giganti (25848)

Zeus, shown almost in perspective, with a sceptre in his left hand annd a thunderbolt in his right, stands in a chariot which he is driving rightwards. He is depicted in the act of striking down two snake-footed giants who lie prostrate on the ground, one of whom is wielding a torch (?). The background is brown-black while the figures are ivory-coloured. The cameo, which is executed in a vigorous baroque style that probably reflects the propagandistic intentions of Hellenistic policy, may be inspired by a group of statues or a relief.
