Oggetto Artistico
Seduction
This work can be attributed to the years between 1887 and 1892, when Migliaro obtained and fulfilled the task of portraying, for the topographical section of the San Martino Museum, some sites in the city of Naples that were destined to disappear as a result of slum-clearance work known as the Risanamento. In full sunlight, and against a lively background of frantic urban life, splodges of shapeless colour hint at the presence of pedestrians and coaches crossing the wide road under the raging sun. The measured gestures of the main characters suggest a subtle game of seduction; behind the urban barriers of the end of the Nineteenth Century, the dark alleys of Naples play host to an intricate web of relationships, sentiments and feelings.
